Libertas Finance provides short-term loans secured against fine wine and other valuable assets.

NEXUS Premier members can use eligible wine in their collection as security without it leaving NEXUS custody. Ownership remains with the collector, while the secured wine is placed under Libertas’s control for the duration of the loan.

NEXUS takes no commission from loans provided by Libertas.

Indicative terms

• Preferential NEXUS client rate of 2% per month
• 1% arrangement fee, deducted from the advance

Every facility is considered individually. The amount available will depend on the value, quality and marketability of the wine, as well as Libertas’s final assessment.

£20,000 facility over 6 months. 1% arrangement fee (£200) deducted from the advance, giving £19,800 net proceeds. Fixed interest rate 24% p.a. (2% per month). Interest over 6 months £2,400. One repayment of £22,400 at the end of the 6-month term. Representative 28.0% APR.

How it works

Contact Libertas

Use the NEXUS referral link to contact Libertas directly and provide some initial information about your borrowing requirement and collection.

Collection assessment

Libertas assesses the eligible wine and agrees the proposed loan amount and terms. With your authority, NEXUS can provide the inventory, ownership and storage information required.

Receive an offer

If the application is approved, Libertas provides an individual offer setting out the loan amount, interest, term, fees and repayment conditions.

Secure the collection

The secured wine is transferred internally into an account controlled by Libertas within the NEXUS custody structure. The wine does not need to leave NEXUS storage and ownership remains with you.

The wine cannot be withdrawn, transferred or sold while the loan remains outstanding without Libertas’s agreement.

Funds are released

Once the documentation and security arrangements are complete, Libertas releases the funds directly to you.

When the loan and accrued interest have been repaid, the wine is transferred back to your NEXUS account. Transfer or re-receipt charges may apply.

The NEXUS advantage

Because your collection is already held and managed by NEXUS:

• no physical movement of the wine is normally required;
• verified inventory and storage information can be supplied efficiently;
• ownership of the wine remains with you;
• the necessary account controls can be administered within NEXUS custody; and
• Libertas pays the storage charges on the secured wine while the loan remains in place.

Normal NEXUS membership charges remain payable by the account holder.

This custody and administration service is available only to active NEXUS Premier members. If you are not currently a Premier member, you will need to join or upgrade before the facility can be completed.
